Developmental Psychology Degrees
A master’s degree or higher is required for individuals who want to work in the highly competitive developmental psychology field. There are so many different areas of study in psychology to choose from, but developmental psychology can easily provide people with the rewarding career that they have been looking for. These professionals can choose from research careers or jobs in applied psychology, or the actual study and interaction with people as it relates to developmental psychology. There are many duties of this position, depending on the type of job that is taken. Some people will be responsible for research and educating the public while others will be responsible for using their education to counsel and help clients or patients who come to them with various issues along the developmental path. Generally, these professionals that go into clinical positions will work with adolescents and children because of their training. There is licensing required for applied careers in developmental psychology, and each state has their own regulations regarding this issue. Professionals can expect to earn about $64,000 on average. Those who choose private practice or applied positions will easily earn more than researchers or those who have public sector jobs. In addition, as many professionals reach retirement age in the coming years, there will be many more job opportunities for professionals who hold this particular degree. The best opportunities will come to those people who have the highest level of education or the most job experience within the field, but there will be plenty to choose from for anyone who gets this degree.
